I decided that I want to take the time each Summer to read one of the chapter books that I remember from my childhood! And, this Summer, after giving Q a few options, he quickly chose Chocolate Fever! I knew that after we finished it, we would have to have a “Chocolate Day” and today was that day!!!
We started with a trip to get donuts and chocolate milk in our jammies…
Then came home to watch the classic Storybreak version of the book. The boys LOVED it…even though the YouTube version is a little sketchy. And, I loved how Quinn was quick to pick out the differences from the movie and the book…

Then, it was time for my favorite part of the day…reenacting Henry Green and Dr. Fargo! I got my chocolate scented marker and drew spots on their arms. Then, they took turns playing doctor and diagnosing the problem. It didn’t take long to figure out that they needed “Vanilla Pills” (white chocolate chips) to make it ALL better. Nash, especially, took it so seriously! So cute!
Later, I had Quinn think of what kind of fever HE would probably get. Then he had to come up with a prescription to cure it. I love his creative mind…
While Nash was napping, we made chocolate chip cookies, and, after dinner, we HAD to make a trip to Hey Sugar! The candy store owner in the book is named Sugar, so it was only fitting!
It was a fun day doing a little extra with my boys…they ate it up…LITERALLY! ;)

What a fun day! My son was just telling me last night that his teacher is reading Chocolate Fever to his class. I think we need to have a chocolate day of our own using your great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
