ThePoeFam was blessed to go with the Vine Student Ministry for a second year to Glorieta, New Mexico for camp! Despite the stress of packing and the crazy long drive, I couldn’t wait to get to the beautiful camp and cooler temperatures.
So, at 3:00 on Monday morning, we woke up our boys to head to the church and hop on the charter bus! I must admit that I was a little giddy to ride on a charter for the first time in a LONG time…and, my boys were SUPER excited to not have to wear buckles AND to get to potty ON THE BUS! Thankfully, the boys were a dream…they watched movies, played games, hopped around from lap to lap, and Nash even took a few little naps curled up in his seat. And, THIS MOMMA even got to read and nap a little bit! LOVED. IT.
Around 4:00 that afternoon, we made it! The boys were immediately excited to look for sticks…and, Quinn immediately had memories of places that he wanted to go back to from last year. Mammer and Slickpaw were also there waiting for us! They had driven my Swaggon and were there to help with the boys all week so that I could be a Youth Pastor’s Wife, too! So thankful!
It really is fun being a Youth Pastor’s Family! So proud of our guy and so thankful to be with him this week!
Tuesday: A great day at camp! Exploring, my first zip lining experience (with very nervous little boy onlookers…Nash, especially, didn’t like it at all), playing putt-putt with Mammer and Slickpaw and more…
{Q was so proud of this cross-shaped stick!}

Q couldn’t wait to visit the “secret stairs!” Here they are from last year…
Wednesday: a day in Santa Fe…I love the unique things and all of the fun colors. The boys picked a fun beaded bracelet from the Indian Market and were SO proud of it. They even wanted to take a picture with Angel, the designer! After a full day, Mammer and Slickpaw took the boys back to Glorieta and I met Matt and the group for dinner and more fun in Santa Fe.
Thursday: Another full and fun day at camp. Matt preached the morning devotional in the Prayer Garden and it was beyond beautiful! We watched our group play Ultimate Frisbee during rec and explored some more. Each night, after dinner, my parents would take the boys and I’d go with the group to Worship and our Church Group Time. It was so nice to be a part of it all and to really bond with them this year!
Friday: an early morning to head back home! We said goodbye to Daddy as he spent his last full day at camp. They wouldn’t be leaving until 9 PM and would be driving through the night.
On our way out of town, we stopped at the Glorieta Post Office to mail post cards the boys had proudly written to their friends!
We made it to Abilene at about 4 PM and spent one night there before driving the rest of the way home. The boys were AWESOME in the car and had fun doing activities, watching movies and eating fun snacks! It’s amazing the difference a year makes!
I am truly thankful that my boys are getting to grow up in such a fun environment. I love that they get to go to camp at such a young age and are getting to watch their “grown up friends” and Mommy & Daddy worship Jesus! What a sweet blessing…one that I don’t want to take for granted!…We already can’t wait for next year!
