I have always been the mom that wasn't a fan of "characters!" Please don't take offence, but I've seen them as tacky and just unnecessary except for on the occasional jammies or underwear! But, recently my baby has fallen in love with a new show...Yo Gabba Gabba! Have you seen it!? It's the strangest thing I've ever seen and holds his attention like nothing else. He sits (or usually stands) for the entire 20 something minutes in awe of what is before him...the weird dancing, singing, characters, 80's video game noises...he loves every minute! And, it teaches him about sharing, about not being scared of things, about animals and more! ... Anyway, while at Wal-Mart the other day, we walked by the clothes isle and Q went NUTS...there was a whole Yo Gabba Gabba section that immediately caught his eye...."YOOOO! Gabba!..." he said with such excitement and enthusiasm!!! Now tell me how I could have said no to that!! So, we left with a Plex hoodie...and, he looks pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself! So, the mom that said "never" has caved...and I'm totally OK with it! :)
*The above pictures show Q going "YOOOO!" like DJ Lance Rock does at the start of the show!

SOOOOOOOO freakin' CUTE! The middle pic - the look on his face is too much. You and your anti-character obsession makes me laugh. I don't even think I know what qualifies as a "character."
Carter watches this when he is at the babysitter. I have watched it once and I was totally confused...it is so weird! I don't understand it but the show really appeals to the little ones. Your little guy is still super cute in his character shirt! I am not a fan of the character shirts either, but once Carter reached a certain age I started buying them because he enjoys wearing shirts with his favorite characters.
Been there, said that and have the charater shirts to show that I broke my #1 rule too!!
HOWEVER.... I draw the line at ANYTHING past PJs and a cute shirt/sweatshirt... no pants, no over alls and GOD help us NO SHOES!!!!!! LOL
they make fun of that show on "The Soup". It looks creeeeepy. But Q sure does rock the merchandise well! :)
That is one show that I totally don't get. Did you see the one with Elija Wood? Cole loves to watch it too when we catch it. Q looks mighty cute in his hoody and red converse!
Haha, that is so funny..Grant loves that show and does the same thing Quinn does. He stands and dances for the whole episode! I love the shirt and he looks adorable in it. Mayve you show send in a video to the producers and Quinn can be their next dancing kid!

That show is so annoying! But, it hold their attention like a drug. I was one of those "never" moms- Barney, princess everything- but it's inevitable.
I am SO with you on the character thing, I cant stand those shirts with spider man, etc on them. I always say that my kids will never wear them. My sister has two little boys, she said the same thing, excpet she now has a cupboard full of 'character' stuff...shes says she just ahd to give in eventually.
Too funny - my girls love it too - Maelynn always comes and does the dances for us. I saw the shirts at wal-mart and distracted the girls because I knew they would want them too. Funny how before we had kids we said we would NEVER alot - and how so much changes. I know will never look at another mother and judge! :)
I feel the same way about tacky characters.....but I know understand how it is so hard to break that heart....we have seen that show many times.....and it holds C's attention like no other!
So I'm a huge wedding photography nut, and one of the producers of YGG has an amazing wedding photography business. Check out her blog...http://www.amelialyon.net/...random, I know :)
laughing so hard b/c I can't stand character shirts either, yet I bought a Peanuts one recently for Reid. Yo Gabba Gabba is in a strange way like Teletubbies...neither make any sense. Oh well!
He just looks way too cute in his "character" shirt. I have yet to find a show that captures Maggie's attention for longer than a few seconds so we may have to try this one. The only time she enjoys a show is when she is strapped into the carseat and she watches a DVD in the car.
I am Cara Carroll's cousin and I saw this on her blog roll... I HAD to come comment.
A friend told us about this and we just started tivo-ing it this week. OMG!!! My kids are in a trance (ages almost 2, 3 and 4). Kinda looks like Teletubbies.
I hope there isn't some crazy subliminal messaging going on through these whacky shows!!
