To the Pool with Remy

On Thursday, Q and I went swimming with Aunt Remy! Even though he liked the water, he LOVED the sprinklers during this trip to the pool! And, Remy made it all even more fun!

We laughed hysterically at Q's 'suck in' pose...he kept doing it! Maybe the water was too cold...not sure!?!? We may have to instill high self-esteem sooner than later! :)

Thank you, Remy, for coming to he pool with us! Let's do it agian soon!

I KNOW That I'm Insane...

Hey all...I feel that I need a disclaimer for how much I blog, so here goes!!!.... I am a little obsessive about documenting every memory! I've been this way for as long as I can remember. I have all of my 'agendas' from the time I was in about 6th grade! I have journal after journal of fun things that I did with friends, dates that I went on with boyfriends, and prayers. In high school and college, I went through a time where I would write down the outfit that I would wear, what I had for dinner, and so on! With Q, I have this blog, some scrapbooks, my 'mom agenda,' his first year calendar, and his baby book! I know that it's ridiculous, but I can't help myself. I had a friend in college that used to comment that I had the most well documented life of anyone that he knew! ... I think that it's true!!!... Anyway, back to the blog...I am totally doing this because of the awesome blog books that I have made once a year! I've gotten really fast at blogging (so don't worry, it's not taking too much time away from my sweet family!) and it's such a great way for me to document all of my memories without scrapbooking (I've let that one go for the moment because I just can't stand the mess with my toddler into everything!) So, if the obsessive blogging irritates you, please feel free to skim the pictures and move on! :) And, know that it's just me...and I don't think it will ever change! ...

All of that to say...there are TONS of new entries below! I think I could have three posts a day...and sometimes I do! Enjoy...if you wish! :)

Definitions:Part 2

hot: adjective (pronounced very breathy..."hhaaawwwt")
1. the word that Q says every time that he sees or hears the iron. If he's in another part of the house and hears the steam, he make sure to let us know that it's hot!
2. the word that Q says when he sees the dryer
3. the word that Q says when he sees the steam when something is cooking on the stove

bob-bull: noun
1. Q's favorite word of the moment.
1. What he says when he sees his 'non-spill bubble container' or sees bubbles floating in the air. He is also quick to say this when he sees the bubbles on his sign language video.

bi-bull: noun
1. Our favorite word of the moment.
2. The word that Q says when he sees the pages of a Bible. (When we were at church 2 Sunday's ago, he was playing with a stack of extra Bibles, and I kept telling him what they were. After a few minutes, he said the word himself! He was quick to show off his new word to everyone that showed their Bible to him! So precious!)

mo: noun
1. What Q says when he wants more of some sort of food item! He'll point as he says it!

nigh-nigh: noun
1. The words that Quinn says when he gets sleepy. He has even gone into his room, grabbed a blanket, and brought it to me while saying this word!

Weekend with Nana and Pawpaw

For Memorial Day weekend, we got a visit from Q's Nana and Pawpaw! We had so much fun shopping, eating, swimming and playing with them. For our fun Sunday afternoon swim, they bought Q a precious new swimsuit with matching T! He was, for sure, the most stylish baby at the pool!

Three generations of Poe's...
Silly Pawpaw...

Thank you, Nana and Pawpaw, for coming to visit! I had so much fun and look forward to the next time we get to play!

Q's First Haircut

After hearing the "Quinn has a mullet" comment one too many times from Q's Daddy, I gave in and let Q get his first haircut. We went to Sharkey's on Saturday afternoon after Jett's Birthday party and Quinn had a great time. He sat in the hummer and watched an Elmo movie, while I snapped pics and got a little sad about my baby's hair being cut! (Silly, I know!) Even though I can't tell a whole lot of difference, he does seem to look a little bigger...and precious as can be!
You can see the 'baby mullet' here...

Bye-bye baby mullet... Thank you, Daddy, for my $16.95 haircut...that took 10 minutes...that would NOT have happened if we had guessed it would even be HALF of that! Oh well! Cute memory!

Fourteen Months Old

Here are 14 things I want to remember from Quinn's fourteenth month...

1. My little man is super snugly! He'll stop playing to dive into me and hug and will walk to us when we squat down so that he can squeeze our necks! My favorite is when I go in his room to get him from his crib and he stands up to hug me around the waist. He did it all on his own about 3 weeks ago and now he does it every time! It melts my heart!

2. Q is walking EVERYWHERE! (the"red Q" pics from this month prove this perfectly!) I feel like he's just minutes away from running. He never crawls anymore...unless it's over a threshold (hilarious!)...and seems so proud of his walking accomplishment. We're lucky to have had very few nasty falls! We're hoping to keep that up!

3. Quinn is a climber...he loves to hike up his leg and try to get up on chairs, out of his crib, or up stairs! I'm so nervous that he's going to hop right out of his crib someday soon!

4. This month I spend my first night away from Quinn! After 401 nights of kissing him goodnight, I was a little sad, but the retreat that I went on was wonderful! I have to admit that I was driving way above the speed limit to get to my house to squeeze him! I missed him so much!

5. Hats have become very fascinating to Quinn this month. He is very interested when people are wearing them and will sign "hat" when you ask him where his hat is. He has started letting us put hats on his head again and will leave them there for a while. He does like to take them off and try to put them back on. And he says "hat" every time he sees his.

6. Bubbles are Quinn's latest obsession! But more than the actual bubble, he loves the container. Some mornings he wakes up saying the word and walks around holding his bubbles. Krozby is a HUGE fan of the bubbles and goes nuts to eat each one as they're floating in the air. Therefore, when Q holds the bubbles, he has an instant shadow. Krozby's just waiting for the day that Q can blow them on his own!

7. Quinn has started leading me places all of the time. He'll grab my hand if I'm sitting down, and point to where he wants to take me. It's usually to get 'cackers' or a 'poon.' He seems so big as he's leading the way!

8. Quinn's vocabulary is definitely expanding. This month he added many words to his list...hat, Bible, bubble, hot, night night, 'poon' (for spoon), that, 'mo' (for more), 'ssssss' (for a snake sound), 'shs' (for shoes), wah wah (for water)...and I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Look for my "definitions" posts that will be frequent, I'm sure!

9. Being outside is Quinn's favorite place to be! Since our backyard isn't at all appealing, we're often on our front sidewalk. He loves to crawl up and down the steps, play with bubbles, watch the rolly pollys and ants, point to the birds, and play with the junk mail! We've also gone to the pool and are going to be spending lots of time there in the hot summer days to come!

10. We had a fantastic Mother's Day! How fun is it for me to have another holiday to celebrate because of my precious little man? It is a day that makes me feel very blessed!

11. Quinn is still eating well...just not really many veggies! His meals/snacks typically include grilled cheese, PB and J, nutra grain bars, applesauce, bananas, strawberries, chicken nuggets, burritos, pickles, green olives, cheese, crackers, milk, apple juice, french fries, turkey, veggies hot dogs, real hot dogs, and/or chicken and stars. He also had his first McD's Happy Meal this month...it was his first time to have juice, too! Yummy!

12. We, so badly, want Q to kiss us! We kiss him ALL of the time and feel that he'll catch on soon!He used to suck on our chins but has stopped doing that. This month he did start making the kissing sound when we ask for a kiss. He just doesn't actually kiss us yet! I'm patiently waiting for the day!

13. Quinn is going to bed between 8:00-8:30 and wakes up between 7:00-8:30 in the mornings. We're so thankful! It gives Matt and I some great time to catch up on all of our shows! ... He's trying to transition to one nap a day! Sometimes he'll take two...the first one is at about 10:00-12:00 and the second one is usually from about 3:00-5:00 or 5:30! He usually wakes up happy and ready to play!

14. We have a little ham on our hands! He is hilarious at church now! He ALWAYS wants to be on stage in the youth warehouse...either talking on the mic, playing the drums, or just climbing up and down the stairs! I have a feeling he's taking after his Daddy in this area and I love it!

Coach Wise would be SO proud...

So, for the past week or so, it has been Wii mania around our house! Matt decided to trade in his Play Station 3 for a Wii...he wanted something that we would do together! I protested at first, (I hated for him to give up his PS3) but he was adamant! ... I have to admit that I was excited when he brought it home. We played right away...created our Mii's, bowled, played tennis, baseball, boxing, and golf! We actually worked up a little bit of a sweat, and I was sore the next day from my tennis skills! ...
Anyway, last night, we decided it was time to play a round of tennis. I'm getting better, therefore more competitive! We were in game 3 of 5 and were tied 2 games to 2. I was returning his crazy serves and playing the net like a champ! I was feeling confident that this could be my chance to beat him! About that time, his back man hit a deep ball to my back girl, and I got my awesome two-handed backhand ready! (It always WAS my strongest shot!) As I swung, I could tell it was going to be a good one and continued with my follow through...then, it happened...I didn't completely follow through, because my controller hit my husband square in the face! He immediately dropped down...and was holding his eye! As he took his hand away, he laughed and, though I felt horrible, I laughed too! I could tell it was a little swollen. When he went to the mirror, he noticed a little bloody spot in his eye and the area around his eye starting to puff up a little more! ...
So, when we went to bed last night, we wondered what it would look like this morning! As soon as he woke up, he went to the mirror and found this...

Now, it's not too horrible, but it is a black eye! A black eye that he got from his wife!...while playing Wii!!! When he was leaving for work, I asked him if he had a good story to tell...and he reminded me that the truth was good enough! ...

I'm so sorry, Matt! Thanks for not being mad at me and for taking it like a man!!! :) I love you!

Blind Ambition

Quinn has learned that if he gets on the other side of the blinds, he can see outside better...and see the puppies better when they're outside! Trust me, our backyard is not something that most would care to gaze at...it's horrible...but Q doesn't mind! He loves being outside and loves looking outside. We've had to help him out of this predicament a few times lately! What a mess!

Hello Sunshine!

Yesterday, we went as a little Poefam3 for our first swim of the season! I had been anxiously awaiting this moment... hoping that Q would love the water! I envisioned us spending many HOT afternoons hanging out at the pool! ... And, after our visit, I feel that my envision was correct. Q loved the water. He floated around in his floaty from Brad and Remy for about an hour. He would splash and smile every now and then, but was pretty much just content the entire time. It was very relaxing! ... After swimming, Q walked himself over to the little 'splash park' right next to the pool! Considering how much he hates being splashed in the face, I didn't think he was going to like it, but I was wrong. He loved the fountains and sprayers so much. He did have one surprise moment (when he walked through the sprayer) but he quickly recovered! It was such a fun day and I can't wait to go back soon! ...after we purchase swim diapers!!! The big, soggy Pampers couldn't have been very comfortable!

Here's the surprise...so funny...

How hilarious are my boys?!!?...

Bye Bye! See ya next time!

2. one of the signs that Quinn knows from his sign language video (as pictured above)

poon: noun (pronounced with a rolling 'p'...like you're blowing bubbles under the water)
1. any type of utensil that is in the container next to the stove. Q is obsessed with pointing to them and saying this word. He'll often carry two or three at a time

I Scream, You Scream...

When I heard the music on Sunday afternoon, I told Matt to get on some shoes while I got some clothes on Quinn and grabbed the camera and the cash! When you hear the ice cream man, you just HAVE to chase him down. And, chase him we did! We walked very fast down our street to catch the truck...and, when we got there, it was the Spider Man Pop...no question! The joyous mess quickly became a family affair...we all had a taste...and the puppies got the last lick! I have a feeling this won't be our last visit to the ice cream truck this summer!
