On Thursday, July 8th, our last morning in the hospital, we got a visit from Dr. Guetersloh. Our LGA (Large for Gestational Age) baby looked perfect in every way…and Matt and I couldn’t get over the fact that he was labeled as HUGE! :) We were so very thankful for our fat baby!
We had lots of hospital people coming in to talk about discharge instructions, hearing tests, financial stuff, nursing and more. Sadly, Nash DID NOT like getting his feet and hands printed in his baby book…but I appreciated the nurse doing it! :) …We got Nash all dressed up in his little go home outfit and waited on his Big Brother (and Mammer and Slickpaw) to arrive.Instead of us bringing Nash home to Quinn, he really wanted to come up to the hospital so that he could ride home with Nash.
When Quinn got there, he immediately wanted to hold his Nash…”let me hold my Nash!” So, we got the boppy ready and placed Nash in his arms! It was the most precious moment! (to add to our long list of precious moments over the past few days!) He even gave him “noggin’” all on his own. That’s a sweet thing that he and his Daddy have always done and we thought it was so precious that he thought to give noggin’ to Nash. Then, we rode in the completely un-necessary wheel chair ride to the car and put our TWO boys in their places! My heart skipped a beat when I looked back to see them together. And, since I was feeling so good…and my appetite is THROUGH the roof, we stopped and ate on the way home! So, Nash’s first outing was to Freddy’s on the way home from the hospital! He snoozed the whole time and let us enjoy our fries, steakburgers and yummy frozen custard! Then, it was finally time to bring him home. The sign that Quinn made greeted us at the front door, and Quinn immediately gave Nash a tour of the house. Cute. I loved our evening. There was lots of oohing and ahhing over the newest little one…and, even though Daddy got Q a new movie and made a special movie date for all of us, the baby TOTALLY stole the show…especially for Quinn. He truly could not get enough of his baby brother.
So, here we go! Our life has forever been changed and we are in mad love with our newest little guy! Even though the thought of life with both of them is a little overwhelming, I know we’ll make it and I can’t wait to see the memories that we all get to share as a family of FOUR!
Happy Birthday, Nash Baylor Poe! We are so blessed to have you in our arms and in our lives for always!
