Encourage one another and
build each other up.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 After a successful first verse, Quinn was ready to move on to another one. So, he let me know which song he liked best from his CD and we went from there. He picked 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (because the song IS so cute) and I immediately thought of the perfect activity to really give the verse meaning to my sweet little man.
So, we pulled out the postcard book that I picked up months ago, and started talking about which friends he could encourage. Quinn had NO problems thinking of who he wanted to say kind things to. It was so priceless to sit with him as he told me exactly what to say. And, an activity that I thought would be short and sweet ended up taking at least an hour.
As the week went on, we had plenty of opportunities to talk about encouraging or building up people! And, I was very conscious to build him up and encourage him! :)
And, since Quinn is still IN LOVE with the Christmas Story, The Crippled Lamp, we got The Crippled Lamb DVD and watched it OVER and OVER. It gave us many opportunities to talk about how it feels to be encouraged and how it hurts when people say mean things to you!
And, of course, God used this to speak to me as well! I got out my own fun cards and couldn’t wait to encourage some people in my life! …and, what a good excuse to use up some extra Christmas stamps.

I LOVE it! I went right out after you posted last time and picked up "The Well-Versed Family". I am really enjoying reading it and coming up with ideas for my son....
We chose "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your strength." Dueteronomy 6:5 for our first verse.
Thanks for sharing and being an encouragement in this area!
That is exactly the verse we selected for this week! We are on "e" for our Letter of the Day and this verse went perfectly! We too love the song!
I love the note idea for his friends. Maybe I'll get that done before Sunday!
