Our Little Stinker

IMG Warning: LONG story ahead…in a nutshell, we had a scare, but all is well!!!

Our little {stinker} dragon gave us quite the scare this weekend. On Saturday, after a morning of shopping with the fam, we came home to find one of my greatest fears. So, I immediately called the on call doctor and explained what had happened. She said that, if it stopped, I could probably wait until Monday, but that going to the ER to get things checked out would probably be a good idea. … I was so nervous!…So, we had a friend come over to stay with Quinn, and Matt drove 100 miles an hour (thank you, new toll road) to the ER. When we got there, we were one of the only ones in the waiting room. But, after 30 minutes of waiting, they took us back to a room.

Within about 15 minutes a lady came in to draw blood and give me an IV (still not sure why!?!?…stupid!). Then, it was LOTS more waiting. About 45 minutes later, they came in with a wheelchair to take me to a sonogram. The lady was sweet, but dumb ER policy wouldn’t let Matt come with me and wouldn’t let me look at the sono screen. So, I just sat there, with the screen turned away from my face, as I worried about what she was finding.

Then, it was back to the room for LOTS more waiting. About an hour. We were just confused as to why they couldn’t grab a doppler and let us hear the heartbeat?!?! So, Matt and I tried not to be worried and played Paper Toss on his phone.

After we had been there over 3 hours total, Matt HAD to go and inquire about the wait. It was then that the nurse told him that one of my labs had come back at a low number and they were running it again. That’ll make you feel great!

So, 30 minutes later, we hear, “Should we just go ahead and call Dr. Webster!?” Which was not a good sign to us!!! My heart dropped, and minutes later, they came in.

Apparently, all was well! They diagnosed me with a “Threatened Miscarriage.” (which is the STUPIDEST name I’ve ever heard!!!) They had seen a little bleed near my cervix but it was clear now…and the baby looked great. Praise Jesus! The comment about Dr. Webster was just routine. They always call the doc to update them. (whew!) And, my cervix was completely closed! …

They put me on bed rest until I could see Dr. Webster on Monday but were confidant that everything was ok. I was relieved, but not 100%. I couldn’t wait to see MY doctor and MY sonographer and have them tell me that everything was ok.

So, the rest of Saturday and Sunday were LONG! Lots of resting, naps and shows. I should have enjoyed it, but I was just a little uneasy all of the time.

When I woke this morning, I couldn’t wait for the offices to open! And, when they did, they got me in right away. I quickly got Q and I ready, headed to drop Q off at a friends’ and pick up Matt.

Within 15 minutes in the waiting room, sweet Kary called us back for a sonogram. And, within seconds, we got to see our little stinker love. Moving, turning, kicking its SUPER long legs, sucking it’s little bitty thumb, heart beating, perfection!!! It was the greatest little sight. And, it was so amazing how much it looked like a little baby! A perfect little 13 week & 2 day old baby. (That we couldn’t quite tell the gender of…shucks!) I really could have watched him/her all day!

Then, talking to Dr. Webster was so reassuring. She told me that it had probably just been a popped blood vessel and that everything looked perfect. Oh, those words!!! I loved hearing them!

So, we gathered up our pictures, called the fam, and thanked God that our baby was healthy.

But, we have since determined that this baby is going to be a TOOT, for sure!IMG_0001

In these two you can see that it’s fingers are in its mouth. And, in the first one you can really see those crazy long legs! …IMG_0002

I'm glad all is well! Just a note of warning, kiddo #2 is always more of an adventure than the first (all my friends agree).

I'm so glad to hear that everything is okay. I had one of those "scares" early on with the twins and it was such a horrible feeling. Take it easy! Can't wait to see if this little "toot" will be wearing pink or blue!

So happy to hear all is well but I can imagine that was a terrible process. Thank You, Lord, for little toot being okay. I had a scare at 13 weeks with Ty (my first,) and I was put on bedrest for the middle trimester-it was awesome! I had to quit my job and lay on the couch all day. Really. That's what my doctor said! To which I said, "Um...okay." I had placenta previa and by the last trimester the placenta moved away from my cervix so I was off bedrest. At that point, I was so out of shape I would get winded walking throughmy house! Ha!

I'm so beyond thankful everything is well, B. That's so hard to experience! I want you to know (and you're going to think I'm crazy) but I think I might know the gender of your baby based on the second pic. There's this theory that a sonographer told my friend called "the angle of the dangle"--I know, I know. it sounds ludacris! Well 13 weeks is the PERFECT time to look at the dangle and I have a theory...google angle of the dangle if you have time. We did it with Caroline--she was 12 or 13 weeks (can't remember). The theory was correct. hehe...just something fun to do nonetheless!

hehe, yes, you're seeing what I'm seeing BUT the only clincher --and it's the 3rd pic I'm looking at (not the 2nd like I previously said)-- is that the back is not flat, it's curled a bit. That can play tricks on the pic. However, still so much fun to look at and try to guess! This is what I had to remember--things like this are so much fun but when you find out the gender, regardless of what God blesses you with, He's blessing you with the baby for HIS purpose. I told myself that so I wouldn't be disappointed if my "dangle hypothesis" was wrong...hehehe!

Glad to hear all is well! Crazy -- Dr. Webster is not my doctor, but she was the one on call and actually delivered my baby. What a spitfire she is!
