“There’s a baby in your tummy, Mommy!” -Quinn

BIG NEWS

We’re PREGNANT! It’s still hard for me to believe! When I got that “pregnant” word flashing in my face on the morning of Monday, November 2nd, I cried and immediately hugged the BIG brother! …Here’s the story…

We had been trying for a while, and I was getting impatient. We got pregnant with Quinn as soon as we said the words, “let’s try to have a baby!” And, even thought I didn’t expect it to be as easy the second time around, I still hoped that it would be!

SO, as the time rolled around for me to take a test this month, I KNEW I wasn’t pregnant. I just had a feeling and even felt silly wasting a test. But, I couldn’t resist. As soon as Matt walked out of the door for work on Monday, I ran to the drawer in my bedside table to grab my LAST test. (I had wasted quite a bit of money on them in the previous 5 months!) Anyway, as I was doing what you do, Quinn walked in…and said these things in the course of minutes…

Whatcha doin’ Momma?
Is TT coming out of that stick?
What is that?
It’s ok that you TTed on it! I’ll get a rag and help you clean it!

And, if you’d done it before, you know how nervous I was taking the test. I’m always a shaky mess… EVERY time!! Thankfully, I had a little comic relief to help me through the stress. Then, within about 30 seconds, I saw it…"PREGNANT!” I think my heart stopped beating for a second and I hugged my little man SO tight! When he saw it, he said, “There are words right here, Mommy!” What a beautiful word!! I cried and got on my knees to thank the Lord that he had blessed us with another baby! I was in awe!

Then, I had to wait!!! ALL. DAY. LONG! It was the LONGEST day! But, so fun to have this little secret. Quinn and I ran some errands! We went to Target and got another test. When I was in line, only buying that, a man and his 16ish year old son were behind me. I was SO embarrassed. I don’t know why? I had a ring on my finger and another baby with me. So, I held the box for AS LONG as I could before putting it on the conveyer belt. Then, after I paid, the man said, “Good luck when you get home!” I turned all shades of red, smiled and said thanks!

But, I didn’t wait until we got home. Q and I went in the family bathroom and I took the test. The line was VERY light, but it was there. It made me nervous. But, not nervous enough. We went to Ross and got the baby a onesie. (and, Q a CARS car, of course)

So, the rest of the day DRUG on. Finally, 5 o’clock rolled around and Matt got home. I was positioned in the play room with the video camera and Quinn was dressed in his “Big Bro” T that I had bought on Etsy about 6 months ago! :) (Glad I got it big!)

Matt walked in and I had Quinn meet him at the door. It didn’t take long for the shirt to register with Matt. He stared, he smiled and he said, “Are we pregnant?!” He was SO happy! He hugged his baby, hugged me and couldn’t believe the news!!!

I had the onesie on the white board on the pantry door and Quinn gave him the book with a note that said, “just the two of us…for 9 more months!”

BIG BRO 001  beginning of I'm Thankful Day 006 And, even though the BIG BROTHER wasn’t really sure what was going on (I was scared to tell him…because he would tell EVRYONE!), he was excited over all of the commotion! And, what a handsome big brother he’ll make!…

BIG BRO 007 BIG BRO 012

As the next days went on, NO ONE knew! (which was SO different from our pregnancy with Quinn) It was hard to keep this secret…especially from my parents. The day after we found out, Matt came home with these amazing star gazers. Serioulsy, they were the BIGGEST I have ever seen. And, it came with the sweetest note. What a good husband! …beginning of I'm Thankful Day 001beginning of I'm Thankful Day 002Finally, on Friday, when my parents came in, we got to surprise them too! Matt was at a meeting when they got here, so I had 2+ more hours of waiting…but, when he got home, we put  Q in his “jammies” and let him walk into the playroom to show Mammer and Slickpaw. Their reaction was priceless. Slickpaw read the shirt 2 or 3 times before he got it. It was hilarious! …

Then, it was time to tell everyone! Nana and Pawpaw, Boogie and Derin, friends, Matt’s co-workers and more! We're just not the ones who can wait until the 2nd trimester to share our news! We’re just TOO excited! And, so was everyone else! Most people suspected it was coming…but, it’s still SO much fun to share the big news!

And, since Matt had a meeting in Abilene on Tuesday, Quinn and I went back with Mammer and Slickpaw on Sunday. In Abilene, Mammer got to show off her news (using her grandson, of course), we got to visit Slickpaw at work, and got to surprise Thompson at school. Q and I also had fun running around looking at baby stuff. He even got a precious bracelet that says “I’m a Big Brother!” And, he hasn’t taken it off yet! :)  ABILENE with a Big Bro 004 ABILENE with a Big Bro 006 ABILENE with a Big Bro 009 ABILENE with a Big Bro 010 ABILENE with a Big Bro 001

Quinn is already so sweet to the baby…and not due to our prompting. He talks to him/her, gives my belly kisses and says, “I love you, baby!” He’s obsessed with the fact that there’s a baby in my tummy and that he’s a big brother. The other day, we got the baby a toy, and he said, “Put it in your tummy so the baby can play with it!” Sweetness. He’s going to be such a precious Big Brother! …

And, because we might as well…here’s the first tummy pic…at 5 1/2 weeks. Thankfully, there’s nothing to show yet…and, thankfully, I”m feeling good. I think I’m about 6 weeks now and go to the doctor on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

I’m definitely more anxious this time around…nervous about the health of our Sweet Poppyseed. (that’s what we’re calling the baby because that’s the size 'he/she was when we found out!) So, please pray that Poppyseed is healthy and growing perfect…and that we’ll see the most beautiful little heartbeat flicker on the 30th!

We have so much in common! It took us about 6 months for the 2nd kid, after an immediate pregnancy the first time. I also announced to the hubby with the big sibling tshirt! Your kids will be almost 3.5 years apart, mine are a month short of 3.5 years apart. The spread is fantastic! You'll have a great helper on your hands! Congrats again!!!!!! I hope you have a barf-free, easy pregnancy. Enjoy!
