Now We Wait...

Last night, while I was enjoying a wonderful cooking/shopping workshop with friends, I got the dreaded phone call from my husband that said..."I'm on my way to CareNow!" Apparently, during his quarterbacking duties in his flag football game, his knee went one way while his body went another! {Possible sign that he's too old to be playing...shhh...don't let him hear me say that!!!} Anyway, long story short...after waiting in a waiting room full of sickies (we PRAYED that none of them had the Swine Flu) and then getting X-rays, Matt was sent home with a huge knee brace, crutches and a Vicodin prescription! Now, we wait! The swelling needs to go down some before he can get an MRI to find out if it's his ACL. Yuck! ... And, even though I hated to not be there for the injury, I was so thankful to have missed out on the bloodcurdling battle cry that came after his fall! So, now I play nurse...although, not a very good one...I'm practicing grace! :) ...

P.S. Two days ago, I totally {broke?} my toe while vacuuming the house! It is all shades of purple and requires me to walk with a bit of a limp! So, I had to get on to Matt for totally stealing my thunder! ;)

Cel-e-brate Good Times...COME ON!!!

The past week (and especially this weekend) we have had our fair share of celebrating and it has been SUPER fun!...It all started last Friday...Q and I braved the yucky rain (in our rain boots, of course) to celebrate Rylie's 4th birthday party! It was full of games, pizza, Thomas cake, party hats and good times! We love you, Miss Rylie!... Then, this Friday, I left Q with his Daddy and headed out with the girls to celebrate Jodi's birthday! Girls nights are the BEST! We laughed too much and had such fun conversations! I love you girls!!!... On Saturday, we got our party faces on and started our day celebrating Emerson's 1st birthday! What a sweet girly girl she is!!!...And, despite the CRAZY wind, it was such a fun party!!!...Complete with the most precious party favors. (more on that later!!!) Happy Birthday, Miss Emerson! We love you!... After the party, I rushed home to change clothes to get to Kaylynn's wedding shower! Kaylynn has been in our youth group since we started at our church (she was in 6th grade!) and she has found the love of her life! So, a month after her high school graduation, she is going to become Mrs. Stone! I'm still in shock but am so very happy for her and can't wait to celebrate her precious wedding day! I love you more than you know, Miss Kaylynn!
Then, on Saturday night, thePoeFam headed to Campisi's to surprise Cooper for his 18th birthday party! Cooper is our youth group drummer and Q is his biggest fan! So, we couldn't miss celebrating with all of his friends and family...and he was truly surprised! So fun!!!
And, last but not least...on Sunday evening, while dining at Which Wich, Q let us know that he had to go potty! So, Matt took him to the men's restroom and HE DID IT! WOW...in a public place!!! I was shocked and so proud! We celebrated him lots and lots!!!
What good times we had...and did we ever sleep well! :)
Thank you, Jesus, for so many fun things to celebrate!!!

Our Little Backyardigan

After we had a playgroup at Cara's before Easter, I came home SUPER depressed about our backyard. Now, don't get me wrong...the fact that our backyard is T.I.N.Y doesn't bother me! Matt and I have ZERO interest in yard work, so the smaller the better! But, the other fact was...our tiny backyard had become a puppy litter box. Period. There was nothing good about it and surely we should have posted a HAZARD warning out there! ...So, since Q is at the age that he really loves to play outside, we called our trusty lawn guys to come and work their magic!!!... And, did they ever! We feel like we have an extra room in our house now, and we absolutely love spending family time in our little backyard!!! Here's to a summer full of backyard fun!!!!
***
Here's the picture that inspired the "Extreme Backyard Makeover!" .... My sweet little shirtless boy playing outside in Landon's backyard... And, here are the BEFORE pictures! I am SERIOUSLY embarrassed to even admit that this is what our backyard looked like! SERIOUSLY EMBARRASSED!!!!...

Don't be jealous of our 3x3 patio!!!... My "I hate yard work" husband even got motivated! He bleached the fence so that we can finally stain it! ... Q was a part of the process too...who says that we shouldn't sweep our yard? ... And...TAA DAAA!!! The finished (for now) product...

It's so much better and Q loves it!!! The first few times that he went out there, he would spin around and talk about the Backyardigans! So precious!...
Our back fence with painted yellow swing and fun flower beds! (Q chose the yellow and I think it was an excellent choice!)
Q's own little dining corner...He LOVES to eat outside now!...
And ours...we love to sit out here and watch Q play or eat our dinner! Matt also likes working on his laptop out here! So nice to have another place to be!...
We're just waiting for the grass to get green!...
For Easter, my parents got us lots of flowers for the yard....here they are around our tree...
And in the pots on our flagstone patio... Everyone is so happy!!! Especially the puppies...
...and the birds...When the word got out that we had bird food, we had swarms of precious little finches! ... And, Q, of course loves having the perfect little "rubber mulched" play area for his fort!...
So, if you want to come over and play, let us know! We'd love to share our little backyard with you!!!

Can miles truly separate you from friends.... If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there? ~Richard Bach

On Tuesday, Q and I braved the open road to visit my BFF, Sarah. Crazy enough, I hadn't seen her since October...and, I had NEVER seen her house!!! How does life get so busy? But, time apart will never change things between us. Q and I had such an easy and fun time hanging out with little Miss Hop-Along (Sarah broke her leg during the only ice storm Texas saw this year...what are the odds?) and her sweet puppies! (Harley, the baby, might I add, just had to have surgery on her leg as well!...so, Quinn brought she and Sarah Thomas band-aids!) ...After getting the tour of her precious house, we loaded up the car and headed to Downtown Burleson to eat at a fun little Malt Shop! We had the yummiest burgers, fries, fried pickles and chocolate shakes! ...All in all, the trip went too fast, but we loved getting to spend some quality time with Sarah. ... And, look forward to the next time!

We love you, Auntie Sarah! Thanks for letting us come hang out!

Happy Earth Day!

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors,
we borrow it from our children.

After we had a Mom's group at church on this cute book... {and after it convicted me more than you know}, I thought that Earth Day came at a perfect time to teach Q a little bit about taking care of our Earth. So, Shannon and I took the boys to the mall for a little Earth Day story time at Pottery Barn (that ended up being a little chaotic) and then to the Disney Store to pick up a cute Earth Day reusable bag. And, with the purchase of it, Disney planted a tree! YAY!
Then, after a yummy food court lunch, Q and I headed home to read our Earth day book and do a few little things to make a difference...{By the way...this book is TOO cute and perfect for little ones!}
So, we went out in the backyard and worked on planting our very own herbs that we will soon use in our food! So fun! Q helped me scoop out the dirt, sprinkle the seeds, cover the seeds and then water the growing parsley and basil. .... Now, we just have to be patient.

After that, we came in the house to do a little recycling. I showed Q different places where we could see the recycling symbol and then let him recycle some paper in our new bin. He had more fun throwing the paper! ...

Even though it may not be much, every little bit helps! ... And, I hope that Q grows up learning how important it is to take care of the precious Earth that God gave us!
