Getting Ready for the Theatre

On Monday, some friends and I are taking our kiddos to see a live production at the Majestic Theatre in Dallas. It is going to be collection of mini-musicals based on lots of popular children's books. So, in preparation, I got three of the books and did some fun little activities with Q to familiarize him with them a little bit.
We started with If You Give a Pig a Pancake. We read the book in bed and had so much fun devouring our pig pancakes for breakfast. I'm telling you...if I'd take the time to make every meal so fun, he'd be a much better eater! And, after breakfast, Q colored a page that goes with the story. He loved using the markers.

Then, after nap on Saturday, Q woke up to the "excitement" (primarily Mommy's excitement) of a pirate treasure hunt. I showed him his own treasure map and we begun our trek. Even though he could have been a little more cooperative (and I probably could have chosen a better time than right after nap), he was really getting into it by the end. He took his pirate bag around and collected coins and candy at each spot. When he finally made it to his destination, he found a treasure box full of cool things! ....And, after our hunt, and in the car on our way to dinner, we read the precious book, How I Became a Pirate! ARGH!

Lastly, when Q woke up this morning, we read The Diary of a Worm. He thought parts of it were so funny...especially the part where the spider spits out the dirt. It was then that I gave him his very own "dirt" for breakfast! Am I a good momma, or what!? Starting the morning with the whole day's sugar allowance is always fun! ;) Needless to say, we can't wait to go to the theatre tomorrow! We'll show you fun pictures after our trip!

That's so funny...those are the exact three we read too b/c those were the ones I already had (thanks to book fairs). We looked for a few others, but didn't have any luck. We are SUPER excited for tomorrow :o).
