Brittneythew Chapter Three: Free Unlimited After Nine

{My awesome cell phone from 2002...but mine had a red rose cover on it! Cute!?}

...Guess what? He called!! He had gotten my number on Thursday, and called twice on Saturday night. For whatever reason, I didn't talk to him the first time (me and my busy Baylor life??!?!) and was asleep when he called the second time. But, don't you worry...he called again after church on Sunday as he was driving back to Abilene. We only talked for about 20 minutes but he asked if he could call back when he got back home. Of course he can!!! And, he did...at around 8:30 and we talked and talked until 11! I remember being giddy...you know the feeling...and it wouldn't go away! I would smile ALL of the time and really could do nothing but think about him and couldn't wait for the next phone conversation. We would spend HOURS on the phone every night and were so thankful for our unlimited minutes after 9.

Here's some "snippits" from my extra cheesy journal entries from April 7th to April 12th...

Sunday, April 7, 2002-
Matt Poe seems too good to be true. I have NEVER been so floored and impressed with a boy in my entire life...During our phone conversation, he asked me if I wanted to know what attracted him to me. Well, of course I did, but how embarrassing! Anyway, he proceeded to tell me that when he met me a month ago, he tough I was beautiful...but the first thing that really stuck out to him was my smile. He said he went home and my smile kept popping into his head...{he went on, but I won't bore you}...Our conversation went on a little longer and then he said, "Oh yeah...what's your last name?" I almost fell over laughing! I couldn't believe that he didn't know-too funny! ...

I'm at school observing my fourth grade class and I can't get him out of my head. The more I think of him, the more impressed I am and I can't wait to talk to him tonight. ...

{Later that day...}
I can't get over how amazing he is. Today he told me that he'd been praying about us since Spring Break! Wow! What an incredible thing to hear! He is son honest with me about everything. It's so nice to not play games! ...He makes my heart happy, Lord, and I could see myself falling so madly in love with him. Guard our hearts, Lord. It's far too much for us to handle on our own and we just want you to be in control...

Tuesday, April 9, 2002-
Once again, I'm at school and my heart seams to skip a beat each time I think of him. He's so incredible. I could almost cry when I think about it. I know that every time I talk about him, I can't stop smiling. I'm a little nervous about seeing him on Sunday. What is it going to be like? Please have your hand in our relationship always, Lord.

Thursday, April 11, 2002-
...Last night he told me that he's seen people that he knows get amazing girls, but he would have never thought that there would be one for him. We talked about how this truly is too good to be true and then we tip-toed around the "when you know you know" philosophy. How crazy that I really think this guy is more amazing than I ever could have imagined...and I'm picturing being engaged to him, getting married and having children. I met him a month ago and have been talking to him for 4 DAYS!!! Doesn't this just happen in movies? I'm falling in love with him---like he said tonight, "I know what they mean by falling head over heals!"

Friday, April 12, 2002-
We ended up talking for 2 hours again last night. It was great, as always! ...I just really can't wait to see him. Only 2 more days! Please be with that time. I don't want it to be at all awkward. Please give us an amazing time. I have such high expectations. Guard my heart, Lord. ...

I love that you are sharing the story of how the Poe Family began. I had that exact same cell phone with the same cover and everything. I sure thought it was cool at the time!
