Oh my goodness! It must be a dream! When Remy introduced me to Windows Live Writer, I knew it had to be too good to be true! But, it isn’t! It IS true! … It’s easier than working in a word document and allows you to upload TONS of pictures in seconds!!! …Now, the {bad} thing is…when you upload them pretty large (like the size I did for the one of Q kissing Matt’s knee), they still don’t have a super high resolution for your blog book. I don’t know if there is a trick to making them better for Blurb!? Maybe I’ll figure that part out later! … But, I totally feel like having smaller pictures in my Blurb book is OK considering ALLLLL of the time I’ll save using Live Writer. …
And, on the Blurb Book note…I’m working on our blog book for 2008 and OH MY GOODNESS! It is INSANE and taking FOREVER! I stayed up until 2:30 the other night, because I was so hooked and kept just wanting to do ONE MORE PAGE!!! I hoped to get it finished this summer, but, at the rate I’m going I’ll have it finished next week! :)
And, I’d love to know what all of you mommies out there do about pictures! …I had originally thought that I wouldn’t print out pictures because they would all be in my Blog Book. But, as Q is getting older and enjoying looking at pics, I really wan to have them in albums. (because goodness knows I won’t let him look at the Blog Book…pages would be ripped out in seconds!!) So, I’m trying to catch up…and, am trying to only do 100 pictures a month….which is next to impossible!!!! … What do y’all do? Do you print your pictures and put them in albums? Do you just save them on discs? … I need your tips and tricks? …It gets so overwhelming so fast!!!
Anyway, happy blogging the NEW way! I promise you’re going to LOVE IT!!!

ok, what's the secret on the blog book? I feel like all my pictures have a warning sign on them and I am afraid they are going to come out bad. Should I be doing something different with my pics? Help! I am working on Cole's 1st year book and I am so close to being finished!
Do you have a PC or a MAC? I have a MAC and I don't think it works on MAC.
Girl, I feel ya, I am in the same boat here. I'm only thru June 08 on my first blog book, and always feel like the more posts I do now that I'll NEVER catch up with myself! Same boat on pictures too ... I printed (and albumed) them for the first 6 months, and everything has gone downhill from there. I do want to continue to print "favorites" at least, and need to sit down and place a HUGE online order one night.
Based on your first blog book that you printed, do you have any tips on font size (don't go smaller than...), or if you DO get the warning sign but it appears clear (some of my pics are copies from friends and not as great of quality), will it still print ok in the book? Maybe you can just do a post with your best Blurb tips, please!! ;)
I print all my pictures and put them in albums...He loves looking at them!!! And that way he doesn't tear up my scrapbooks!
Oh the dilemas of a mommy that loves photos- I feel your pain! I also am working on my 2008 Blurb book while trying to keep up my current blog. It is quite a job! So here is what I am currently doing but I am constantly looking for better ways as well.
After editing pics and deleting all unneccesary pics, I save them all on discs as safe keeping. I have a traditional crafty scrapbook for each child of their first year that they love to get out and look at and since it has page protectors- it is safe! Then I do a family Blurb book each year and we are having multiple copies printed so we have one to look at, one to save for us and one packed away for each child so that when they grow up and get their own home they can have a perfectly preserved book from every year. I love traditional scrapbooks but doing 5 every year isn't practical!
I ditto the idea that you should do a post about tips for Blurb. I could always use more tips!
Also, a lot of pictures that I slurp in from my blog to blurb will come up with a warning sign but if I simply get the photo from the file on my computer and substitue the original then it is fine. It make for more work but is worth those great shots you want big!
I know its a lot of work but Quinn is going to love having all the memories saved so well- you do a great job with pictures and journaling!
Hi!
I print all mine out! My son was adopted and we send pictures and letters to his birth mother and so printing them out for her helps me keep them for myself. I have an insane amount, but who cares?
:)
I LOVE it! I just did a test post and I had to recommend it to my readers :)
Thanks for the live writer tip...going to download. On the pics front, I am now doing what you're doing...my pics are on my blog. I pick out my faves so I'm not spending a ton of $ printing out tons of pics each month. I do print some which I in turn always make a disc of...anywho, I think the blog book is the best thing ever and would like to have multiple copies of each year to serve as Reid and Caroline's memory books as well, while mommy and daddy keep one of course. :)
my hero! Love it! I wish it had the blurb function to publish straight to book. maybe it does and i'm missing it...anywho, wahoo...love it!
I haven't yet printed 2008. It's bad. I scrapbook and will always scrapbook photos. However, I'm considering a blurb book more for my memory's benefit as I scrapbook. I'm learning to use less of the photos, though, in my scrapbooks (I have one for each kid and then one for us). It's also very true that you take fewer photos when you have a second kid. Poor kid. A kind lady told me a couple weeks ago that I will get back to scrapbooking and even catch up, when my kids are older (maybe in school). Until then, I'll keep taking, printing a chunck at a time, filing them for scrapbooking and saving to cd.
Is blurb.com working now with blogger??
