Easter Day: Our April Fun Day

I, once again, looked so forward to the day that I would spend really focusing on my little man. Today was "Easter Fun Day" at our house and did we ever have fun!!!...First, after lots of internet hunting and bargain shopping, I got my basket ready...

The first and most fun (for me, anyway!!!) part of our themed days...breakfast!!!...waffles with peanut butter, green food coloring mixed with coconut, Robins Eggs and peeps! YUM! ... Then, we matched some bunny pegs with this bunny garland...it was so crazy that there were just enough for there to be one peg for each bunny on the garland (and they were perfectly pink and white!)...a great one to one correspondence activity!...
Then, a fine motor skill activity...we'll actually play this game when he gets older! :) For now, we'll just put pegs in holes! :) ...

After that, we got dressed because Cruse was coming over for a little while! So, it was only appropriate that Q wear his "Hangin' with my Peeps" T!!!...

And, while we waited, we did this cute activity from No Time for Flash Cards! I get MORE great ideas from this lady!...

5 Little Jelly beans

5 little jelly beans,
I wish I had more,
I'll eat the pink one ,
now there are four!

4 little jelly beans,
tasty as can be,
I'll eat the green one
now there are three!

3 little jelly beans,
Only a few,
Ill eat the blue one
now there are two!

2 little jelly beans,
eating them is fun,
I'll eat the yellow one,
now there's only one!

1 little jelly bean,
the last one for me,
I'll eat the green one,
I'm happy as can be!

Q took the song a little too seriously and took a bite out of blue...oops!...

When Cruse got here, it was time to paint!!! And, not just any kind of painting...dandelion painting! They had a blast dipping their flowers in the paint and dotting it on their eggs! ...And what sweet little art they created...
They, they put on their bunny ears and we played a little bunny hop game. I taped colored bunnies to the floor and told them which color to "hop like a bunny" on. They wanted to do it over and over again! So fun!...
After all of that hopping, it was time for a snack...and what better than yummy, sugary peeps! MMM...mmm...

After Cruse had to leave, and after a toddler sized melt down from Q about wanting "Dirty Dinaco McQueen" (no clue what that even is!?!?), we painted Q's monthly little wooden circle...

...and read a few stories! Q loved them both and sat so attentively as we read about Jesus. It's such a hard thing to try to explain to a toddler, but I have to trust that he's hearing it and will one day truly understand! It's so sweet that he was so into the story that seemed to be so over his little head....

During bath, he got to open his "magic" Jesus Loves Me washcloth and we sang our two favorite songs about Jesus...Jesus Loves Quinn and Jesus is Alive Today. On Sunday, after Sunday school, Q ran up to me and immediately said, "Jesus Alive, Mommy!" It melted my heart. Then, when I saw the paper that talked about what they had learned in class, it said, "Jesus is Alive" at the top of the page. Sweet heart!!!...and, the little song is to the tune of London Bridge...

Jesus is alive today
Clap your hands
Shout "Hooray!"
Jesus is alive today
And we are so happy!

After bath, we continued with the story of Jesus by putting some resurrection stickers in Q's sticker book. We had to make sure that the stone was rolled away even though Quinn desperately wanted to put it over the opening of the tomb...
Then, on to lunch! And, what could be better than a bunny sandwich!...
Q named him" Jack" and talked to him for a while before he ate him...
For dessert we ate jelly beans and read a poem that celebrated Jesus and his creation...
Q would wait until we got to the correct line to eat each one...Then, he'd match his jelly bean up next to the line on the paper...
After that, it was time to prepare our Egg Head so that it could grow hair. ...I have a feeling that Q is going to get very excited when the hair starts to show...And, I have a feeling that he is going to get a very cool name!!!...We'll see...{Thanks, Mammer, for this fun activity!}
After that, and before the storm blows in, we went outside to have some fun with our egg shaped sidewalk chalk. Q drew "I's" over and over. And, he'd say "my draw I" as he'd make a line! Cute...
After Q woke up from his nap, we played this fun Word Hunt game on starfall.com (a recent FAVORITE thing for Q) and then went on a little egg hunt in the back yard. Each egg contained a letter. When he opened the first one, he was excited...but he quickly became somewhat disappointed when the eggs didn't have "food!" So, half way through our hunt, he went in to get a snack. Oh well...maybe we'll finish it later!

Tonight,we're going to start doing this...I can't wait to see him open each egg and, one day, complety understand what all of this means! I had so much fun with my sweet little love today! :)
