Five Months Old

My Sweet Booger Bear,

We have had such a busy month and you seem to be growing and changing by the minute. Sometimes when I walk in your room to get you from you crib, I'm sure you've grown in your sleep. People always tell us how big you're getting - and I respond by laughing and agreeing that you're my 'chunk-a-lunk.' I love it!

You are still such a happy little guy and will smile at a stranger (we often hear that you are the "Gerber Baby!") --- but you save your biggest smiles for your Daddy and me. Although you beam the biggest when you hear my high-pitched, smiling "hiiiii," I can never make you laugh the way your Daddy does. He has a way of being so goofy and making the best sounds that send you into hysterics for long strands of time. I love to sit back and watch as you squeal and try to catch your breath from laughing so hard.

You seem to be getting stronger and can push away from us or hug tighter than we feel a 5 month old should. You are trying so hard to sit up and have found your toes. You love to stare at them and reach out to grab them. You have also become more aware of your world. You'll stop eating to turn and see why the puppies are making such a racket and you'll intently watch us as we eat or drink. It's cute to watch you reach for things and discover so much for the first time.
You have become a much better napper (2 a day...about 1 and a half to 2 hours each) and have slept in your "big boy bed" for almost a month now. We are so blessed that you always sleep 9 or more straight hours in your crib!
This month you had your first babysitter, Remy, while mommy went to get her hair done. You also celebrated Mommy and Daddy's 4th wedding anniversary. It was crazy to have you in the middle of the picture that we take each year. You went to Abilene again so that we could help Grammer with her classroom and you met your 98 year old great-great-grandmother, Charlsie Poe.
As we hard the sad news that some of our dearest friends had lost their baby, I just looked at you and cried. I am so blessed to have you in my world, Quinn Davis Poe. I love you truly madly and deeply and would do absolutely anything for you. I pray that I am becoming the Mommy that you deserve and that I will never take your precious, happy, healthy life for granted!
XOXO,
Your Mommy

You are definitely the mommy that Quinn deserves! He is one lucky kiddo! Is it me, or does that monkey seem to be getting smaller?! Love you! :)

He is so big. Don't you just love that chubby baby look. Bryson has that and I love it. Hopefully we can't get together soon. Once I get settled back in school.
